Saying Goodbye

Today we say goodbye to a good ole boy.

My Sister and Craigys dog for 17 years.

It's always hard to say goodbye or to know what the right time is...

Pet owners seem to know..
They have a sense of when its right....
When their friend has had enough.

Poor ole jacks liver stats were off the charts according to the was just a matter of days....things would start to get worse...they would know when it was time.....

So it has been decided...
It was time..
A Vet will come to the house and put the good ole boy to sleep..

Everyone handles death differently and in the best way they possibly can.
There is no right or wrong.
Adele couldn't bear the thought of seeing him Craig and their son Colin will be there when it happens.
Jeff and I will say our goodbyes before hand..

It's never easy...ever..
It's heart wrenching...
Made me never want to get a pet again after my last kitty passed...although I know I will again go there....and try again...and my heart will break yet again.
That's what we do...that's the way it is.

So today....
we say goodbye to a good ole boy..
Goodbye Jack

You were well loved.

I Loved You Best

So this is where we part, My Friend,
And you'll run on, around the bend.
Gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on; I'll find the strength,
Life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
Share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
But they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
Will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
Take with you this...I loved you best.

All that we love deeply,

becomes a part of us.

Boaters beach..... Chatham

Went out on the boat again a few days ago.

Jeff with all the gear that goes into the boat.

Chairs for the beach, fishing rods, clamming gear, lunch, extra clothing, hats sunscreen, cameras and binoculars.

Rust and Barnacles
Salt water does a number on things...
I love these old rust buckets...still running.

Here we are at boaters's getting toward low tide....the anchors out and we walk all the gear to the beach and set up for the afternoon.
The only other way to get to this beach would be to walk about four miles from Lighthouse beach...Jeff and I have done this and intend to do it's a great birding walk and takes us most of the day.

This Black-bellied Plover on stilts- appears to be the very tall variety. :)

It's low tide and I walk around to see what birds are about.

Great Black-backed Gulls.

I found a heart and kept it. I liked the rounded form.
Do you see it?

Sea art...

Margie starts clamming.

This time we clam for steamers...soft shell clams.

We found enough for dinner that night.

Great Black-backed Gull with a crab.

Least Sandpiper

Black-bellied Plover still in breeding plumage.

A few Oystercatchers, Black-bellied Plover and a Willet.

We also saw Semipalmated Plovers, Semipalmated sandpipers and Short-billed dowitchers on the mud flats.

I love Oystercatchers!

Herring Gull with a crab

It was a beautiful day on boaters beach....

I did some walking, clamming and reading.

Fun in the sun!

More Chatham fun

On our morning walk we usually pass by this idyllic scene.

The rows of flowering Rose of Sharon trimmed beautifully as they flow down toward the windmill.

Yesterday afternoon at low tide we gathered our buckets, clam rakes and headed out to do some clamming.

There were others already there...

There were plenty of clams for everyone.

Jeff and I had no problem filling up our basket.

Winner winner...clam dinner!

Capey things….

Jeff and I are in Cape Cod for a few weeks….

Spending time with Jeff's side of the family, enjoying the beach and what it brings.

A few days ago we spent a few hours at the beach.

Jeff, his brother and I went for a short walk.

I was curious what birds might be around other than the Laughing, Ring-billed , Greater Black-backed and Herring Gulls.

We saw a few Willet, Sanderlings, Semipalmated plover and Ruddy Turnstone.

We also saw a Black Scoter a few feet offshore in the distance.

P1140348We left the rest of the family fighting no seeums at the beach so we decided to head back in case they had enough.

P1140354I love afternoons and evenings on the beach.

P1140355Family was still there and were surviving the no seeums.

Perhaps it was the wine that was protecting them. Winking smile

Selfie time.

A very nice afternoon at the beach……

P1140372Evening on the deck with a glass of wine and the moon.

Yesterdays morning walk. The water was still…P1140384So it was decided that we should take a boat ride.

P1140390A little fishing….P1140393They all kept reeling them in one after another.P1140397Black Sea Bass

P1140400Sandy cooked a few up for dinner……delicious!

Another Fine day in Cape Cod.
